Five Crucial Components of a Business Plan

Monday, March 24th, 2008

The format of a Business Plan is something that has been developed and refined over the years and is something that should not be changed. Like a good recipe, a business plan needs to include certain ingredients to make it work.

When you create a business plan, don’t attempt to recreate its format. Those reviewing this type of document have expectations you must meet. If they do not see those crucial decision-making components, they’ll see no reason to proceed with their review of your business plan, no matter how great your business idea.

Executive Summary Section

Every business plan must begin with an Executive Summary section. A well-written Executive Summary is critical to the success of the rest of the document. Here is where you need to capture the attention of your audience so that they will be compelled to read on. Remember, it’s a summary, so each and every word must be carefully selected and presented.

Use the Executive Summary section of your business plan to accurately describe the nature of your business venture including the need that you plan to fill. Show the reasons why people need your product or service. Show this by including a brief analysis of the characteristics of your potential market.

Describe the organization of your business including your management team. Also, briefly describe your sales and marketing plan or approach. Finally include the numbers that those reviewing your business plan want to see — the amount of capital you seek, the carefully calculated sales projections and your plan to repay the loan.

If you’ve captured your audience so far they’ll read on. Otherwise, they’ll close the document and add your business plan to the heap of other rejected ideas.

Devote the balance of your business plan to providing details of the items outlined in the Executive Summary.

The Business Section

Be sure to include the legal name, physical address and detailed description of the nature of your business. It’s important to keep the description easy to read using common terminology. Never assume that those reading your business plan have the same level of technical knowledge that you do. Describe how you plan to better serve your market than your competition is currently doing.

Market Analysis Section

An analysis of the market shows that you have done your homework. This section is basically a summary of your Marketing Plan. It needs to show the demand for your product or service, the proposed market, trends within the industry, a description of your pricing plan and packaging and a description of your company policies.

Financing Section

The Financing section must show that you are as committed to your business venture as you expect those reading your business plan to be. Show the amount of personal funds you are contributing and their source. Also include the amount of capital you need and your plan to repay this debt. Include all pertinent financial worksheets in this section: annual income projections, a break-even worksheet, projected cash flow statements and a balance sheet.

Management Section

Outline your organizational structure and management team here. Include the legal structure of your business whether it is a partnership, corporation or limited liability corporation. Include resumes and biographies of key players on your management team. Show staffing projection data for the next few years.

By now you’re probably thinking that you don’t need Business Plan just yet. Well you do, and there is business plan building software that can help you through this immense project. These software packages are easy to use and affordable. Use one today and produce a professional-quality Business Plan — including all critical components — tomorrow!

Affinity Credit Cards

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

For about twenty years, banks and financial institutions have figured out that appealing to people’s hearts is the way to get them to open their wallets. Affinity credit cards have a charity logo as well as the issuer’s logo; each time the card is used to make a payment, balance transfer or withdraw cash from an ATM, the bank donates a percentage of the amount of the transaction to the charity.

Will You Need Donations After Using a Charity Credit Card?

The concept of the affinity credit card (otherwise known as charity credit cards) is great: every time you make a purchase you had to make anyway, you can use you credit card and donate to charity. Finally, you can feel good about using your plastic to make your purchases! But is it worth it?

Most of the charity credit cards offer miniscule donations in comparison to the amount of interest the cardholders are required to pay, and most of the time- they charge fairly high annual fees. If using the charity card to donate $6 a year to the homeless leaves you needing donations yourself, it may not be such a good idea to use the charity credit card no matter how warm and fuzzy it makes you feel inside!

The average donation given from affinity cards to charity is about .05 percent. So for every dollar, a half a penny is donated. What does that come out to be? A $100 purchase made with an affinity card translates into 50 cents donation to the charity affiliated with the credit card. If you spend $100 a month on your credit card, you’re looking at about $6 a year in donations. If you’re paying 21 percent interest each month on your payments, and a hefty annual fee to the card issuer, it’s hard to get excited about your contribution to charity!

Additionally, charity credit cards don’t usually provide the same perks that traditional credit cards offer. You’d be hard pressed to find a charity card that offers cash back, travel accident insurance, or extended warranty coverage- all extra items that are becoming more common on traditional credit cards.

High Spenders and No Balances

If you are one of the few, however, that spend a lot of money on a regular basis using credit cards, and pay off the balance in full on a monthly basis to avoid most of the interest and fees, an affinity card may be a reasonable option for you to make regular donations to charity.

Another thing to keep in mind when considering affinity cards for donation purposes, is that donations and contributions made through the use of a credit card are not tax-deductible since the donation is actually a contract agreement between the card issuer and the charity- and not from your pocket.

Popular Affinity Credit Cards

Despite the fact that individuals pay higher interest rates and annual fees when they use charity credit cards, and that cardholders of charity cards receive fewer perks than traditional credit cards- these credit cards are very popular. Target’s credit card has donated over 19 million to Take Charge of Education, an organization that provides scholarships to students and teachers. This particular charity credit card allows the cardholder to designate the school in which their 1 percent donations are sent to- making the card extremely popular with families with children in grades k-12.

Competition is Fierce

The credit card industry is a highly competitive one, with banks and card issuers literally trying to out-best one another in hopes of retaining and attracting new cardholders. Credit issuers love affinity cards because the cardholders are often very loyal- keeping their credit cards and using them often because they believe in the cause they are donating to.

Channel Perfumes - The True Channel is Inimitable

Friday, March 21st, 2008

There are many perfumes in the world that stay in our memories as being wonderful or even great. These perfumes however are eclipsed by the most famous perfume of our modern times. This is the Channel Perfumes that bears the simple number 5 on its label. We know this perfume as it is now called Channel No.5.

There are many stories about how this Channel perfume came into being. What is known is that it was created by one Ernest Beaux and relesed at the premier of one of Channel’s fashion shows. This was in 1921. The perfume was a hit because it departed from the usual standard of perfumes that were sold during that era.

This particular Channel perfume set the stage for many new innovations in the perfume world because of the new ideas that were used to create this perfume. Instead of the usual flower scents that were used Ernest Beaux used synthetic perfume oils as well in his creation. He let Channel choose the sample that she wanted to present and when it became famous other perfumes were made around this same idea.

Today while Channel No.5 is one of the most famous perfumes in the world there are other types of Channel perfumes for us to see and try. Some Channel perfumes have followed the trend of the first Channel perfume. These perfumes bear a simple number as their name.

Besides these Ernest Beaux created other famous Channel perfumes for us. These include Channel 22 which was released in 1922, Cuir de Russie which was intorduced in 1925, Gardenia which the public saw in about 1925, and Bois des Isles which came into our lives during 1926. These perfumes were later reintroduced to the world as boutique exclusives in 1986.

Other than these Channel perfumes there are some new brands on the market. For instance in 1984 the house of Channel launched their tribute perfume to Channel. This Channel perfume was simply called Coco in honor of Coco Channel. Allure the Channel perfume for the woman of today was released in 1996.

The Channel perfume range is always released with the help of a beautiful celebrity. The first such person who helped make Channel perfume well known was Marilyn Monroe. In an interview with a journalist Marilyn Monroe said that she only wore Channel No.5 to bed.

Nicole Kidman became the new face of Channel perfumes during 2004. As we knew her as a talented actress the idea that she wore Channel perfumes brands made sure that we would try a Channel perfume the next time that we went to buy perfumes. This constant change of well known personalities and celebrities helps to keep Channel perfumes in our minds.

For all of these reasons Channel perfumes is an iconic perfume. When we buy even a small sample perfume we are buying into history, because no other perfume has changed the way that we look at perfumes and ourselves.

CATCH UP WITH YOURSELF

Now’s the time to evaluate your life and your desires. Go ahead and test yourself - nobody’s looking. Try to find out what your inner desires really are. Once you know, you can formulate a plan of action, and then achieve your goals.

Right now, write down three things you want. Don’t spend time thinking about them - just write them down. You may be surprised at what you want. Can you see any relation to the types of desires most sought for?

What accomplishment are you most proud of? What make you happy enough to be content, to feel totally relaxed, and to slide back with a smile on your face.

Without dwelling on failures, mistakes, or past ill feelings, quickly list the important accomplishments or your life. Think about the places you went to, the relationships you encountered, the education you received. Consider your job changes and positions, and the achievements related to work.

Put a star next to the most important accomplishments of your life. Is there any correlation with the list of the three things you want most?

MAKE PLANS

Before you go any further with your life, make a list for your future. Write it down - don’t just think it. What would you like to accomplish in the next ten years? A new house, a high-paying position, a home in a new city, a trip around the world?

Break that list down into those things you’d like to accomplish in the next five years. Then make one further division into the next six months. What can you do in the next few months to further you towards your long-term goals?

GOAL SHEET

My most important desires are:

In my lifetime, the most important things I’ve accomplished:

If I looked back on my lifetime in 20 years, I’d like to have accomplished:

Within 10 years, I’d like to achieve:

Within 5 years, I’d like to achieve:

In the next six months to a year, these are the things I’m going to do to work towards by goals:

Regardless of your family commitments or your personal relationships; regardless of your business enterprises or any false sense of achievement, what do you really want?

Give yourself credit for your past accomplishments, and give yourself credit for your future achievements. You can and will attain all your goals, both long-term and short-term if you approach them in a step-by-step fashion and if you believe that they are worthwhile for you.

YOU ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN YOUR LIFE

Although you can be considerate of your environment and all the people in it, first consider yourself. Your well-being, your happiness, your success. Make a pact with yourself right now that you will achieve your goals. And make them realistic to reach. Then one by one, make your own life the success it deserves.

FIRST STEP - RELAX

An important step in achieving goals is to be able to relax. You’ll get nowhere is your body and mind are nervous and jumping from one place or idea to another. In order to focus on your goal you must center your being.

Relaxation is the balance of the mental, spiritual and physical aspects of yourself. Set aside time each day for deep relaxation. Not sleep, but relaxation. The state of deep relaxation is a state of meditation. There are no thoughts in your mind. There are no physical ills or discomforts. You breathe in deeply, allowing the lungs to fill with fresh air, and you exhale all used and stale air. The blood circulates amply throughout every part of your body. You drift through space, ever towards your true destiny.

Exercise or sports is a good way to get into relaxation. The body needs physical stimulation to pump blood into all its extremities and to give the heart a good workout. Exercise is a wonderful way to let the mind relax, as you place your thoughts on the way your body moves. For many people, sports and exercise are enjoyable ways to feel alive, youthful, and fulfilled.

Then take time to relax. Lie down on your back with your arms out, palms up. Your feet should be about two feet about. You might clench your muscles first, then relax them. Allow your thoughts to drift, but don’t get caught in them. Watch them go by, as if they belong to somebody else.

If you have a special problem, tuck that in the back of your mind - don’t dwell on it up front. Let yourself and your emotions go. Breathe out the negative feelings and emotions; breathe in positive, life-giving air. Float freely. Relax. ASSUME THE BEST. Expect to achieve; expect to accomplish your desires; expect to win. Accept less, but push on to attain more. The higher your goals, the further you’ll go.

The moon is no problem, nor are the neighboring planets. Soon human beings will see close-ups of other star and galaxies. Don’t go for less that your full potential. Shoot for the universe. You owe yourself nothing less.

And aside from the universe, keep yourself on Earth, in your office or studio, working closer to those goals you want to attain.

You have a right to be happy. You have the means to be successful. You can succeed in what you desire.

Always keep in mind the fact that you are in transit, attaining your goals, moving through life as though you are an actor, and the setting is a stage.

Keep your thoughts firmly planted on prosperity, good fortune and lucky breaks. Assume that you will, in fact, nearly have accomplished your goals. It is with that attitude that successful people achieve.

What Makes A Classic Car

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Those cars that are universally accepted classics such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, and most of the other exotics autos. So what’s going to be the classic car of tomorrow? In the past the Chevrolets, Fords, Buicks, and Plymouths of 30-40 years ago were not meant to become future classics, but some of them have actually earned a spot among the Ferraris and Aston Martins at shows and classic car auctions around the world. Will any of the less collectable cars of the 1980s and 1990s make it?

There are so many different definitions of what a classic car is. Some would put specific age limits on the definitions, and others would say that only special variants would qualify for classic status.A classic car is one that stops depreciating in value and either levels off or begins to appreciate over time. The value increasing because of demand ties into the definition that the classic cars have appeal long after they are no longer produced. The goal is to catch these cars when they are at the bottom, before they become more valuable. Of course, values do vary from year to year, so like any potential investment there are risks.

Anyway, here is a list of what we would qualify as potential future classics: BMW 3-Series (E30 1984-1991), Chevrolet Camaro/Pontiac Firebird, Chevrolet Impala SS (1994-1996), Chrysler Shelby K-Cars (Omni GLH, etc), Ford Mustang,Ford Fairmont GM A-Bodies (RWD models, such as the El Camino and Malibu), Mitsubishi Galant VR-4,Mitsubish Starion, Mitsubish 3000GT VR-4 (and cousin Stealth R/T), Nissan 240SX (S13 and S14) Nissan 300ZX, Toyota Corolla GT-S(the famous AE86), Toyota MR2, Toyota Supra (last generation), VW GTI (personally the MKI and MKII)

The value of these cars will more than likely stabilize in the next 5 to 10 years. Granted, some of the cars are special variants, and many may fall into obscurity instead of becoming more popular

The Universal Laws Of Nature - Beyond Emotion Finding Inner Stillness - Innerwealth

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Stillness comes when we are without disturbance to our heart and mind. This means action with complete certainty, open mindedness and compassion, in other words, without emotion. The emotional person has only glimpses of stillness. The remainder of the time they are in the turbulence of life, spinning around thinking, worrying, stressed and making effort where no effort is required.

Religious law, human law and personal law are emotional law designed to govern. Universal law is above these fractions of reality. Human law speaks to what should or could be, universal law finds order in what is. Behind every circumstance, no matter how humans perceive it, there is order, and therefore beauty. This is the requirement for stillness, to understand this order in the chaos.

How can you fulfil your purpose in life if you are always attracted to, repelled from, judging against or rooting for some cause you claim is right. This emotional life has no ground, only the dogmatism of the mind, the cause of all violence and injury, the righteous mind. To calm your life, to find real gratitude for life as it is, to remain present, certain and loving, you must learn a deeper awareness than your emotional reactions to your perceptions of life.

Law 1. LOVE. We want love, we thrive on love, we want to love what we do. But how much do people know about love. Love is not an emotion and therefore not of the ego. The Universes exist because planets, stars, galaxies and comets, stay in place. Cells exist in the human body, because of the very same forces. Emotional people talk about imbalance and what is wrong with the world. Loving people look for the beauty in it. Nature seeks a balance in all things. This is called centred. Emotion, illness, and suffering come from imbalanced, un loving perspectives. People trying to be right. Overcome this and you will witness something profound.

Law 2. PRESENCE - Turning up means the past is not driving you forward nor holding you back. And the future is not more attractive than the past. Maximum growth of any entity occurs at the border of support and challenge. To be present we cannot value one without the other. Emotional and mentally blocked individuals seek one without the other. The wise seek both. Everything, plant, human, business and nation grows at the border of order and chaos. Any period of one causes the other. We stand in presence between them.

Law 3. CERTAINTY. Worry, anxiety, righteousness, grief, fear, anger, pain, uncertainty - these kill us yet, they are mostly deluded constructs of the human mind, perceptions that are not really true. They are false because nothing can ever be missing, nature abhors a vacuum. There is nothing missing there are just changes in form. The emotional fruitcake sees only one side, the person who holds certainty in their heart, sees the perfection. Nothing can escape the interconnectedness of all things, nothing can ever be missing, just changed in form.

Law 4. GRATITUDE. If you don’t appreciate it the way that you’ve got it, you wont get it the way that you want it. What you appreciate grows. Appreciation in your heart and mind cause immune strength and health. So people run around appreciating what they like in life, and wanting to change what they don’t. This is not appreciation, it is disharmony. Heavy metals, heavy people and heavy animals become extinct, they sit around talking about global problems and how they don’t like it. Ingratitude and by so doing cause more of it. Right people are rewarded with calamity disaster and humbling circumstance, just like the environment, evolve or be evolved.

Law 5. STILLNESS - Wanting, changing, marketing, visioning, ambitions, romance, goals - these are the enemies of inner stillness -contentment and contentment is the path to love. We must learn to have both. The one and the many. All things in the great universe are hierarchical. The many always report to the one. The one always reports to the higher. This means priorities. What is your priority, your inner stillness or what you want? Contentment with what you have got or desire for better and more? This alone determines the quality of your life, not how many back bends, prayers, or chants you can achieve. Contentment.

Universal Law gives you that insight. But few are ready for it. Join Chris in Nepal, in coaching classes or at a keynote address and take the opportunity to step beyond emotional living. Learn how to mould your perceptions to align with nature and dump your drama causing emotions and religious neurosis. Discover something magnificent, a way to live and work in tune with nature, a higher consciousness. To do so, you must be willing to challenge your ego. That alone takes courage and commitment, but there is no better guide on that path than Chris Walker. Chris shares with you the tools for pure inspiration where you’ll see the perfection of the world, develop enormous self trust, breakthrough emotional limits and understand the laws that make life what it is.

How to Check Your Vehicle’s Gas Mileage

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

These days when people go to the car lot to buy a car they are always looking to see how many miles per gallon they are going to get from the car they are considering to buy. With gas prices as high as they are this is a valid thing to consider when making your decision. Most people will just look at the stated information on the window and see if that fits with what they expect.

But what happens after you’ve had the car for a few years? Has your gas mileage stayed the same? Has it gone up or gone down? Most likely the fuel efficiency has decreased since you bought the car.

There are many things that can happen over even the first few years of the life of a car that can impact its fuel efficiency. So let’s talk about how to check and see what your current fuel efficiency is so that you can get an idea of what your current miles per gallon ratio is.

Here are some simple steps you can follow to check how many miles per gallon you are currently getting:

Fill up the tank
This is probably the most obvious step, but that’s also why it’s the first step. Fill up your tank.

Reset the trip odometer
If you car has a trip odometer, go ahead and set it to zero. If your car doesn’t have this option, then just write down your current mileage on a piece of paper that you can keep in the car.

Drive until you need to fill up again
You don’t have to drive until your tank is on empty. Just drive until its time for you to gas up again.

Fill up the tank again
So far we’ve probably followed your normal routine, only I put in the step to reset your odometer.

Write down the amount of gas you put in your tank
Don’t throw your receipt away just yet. Take note of how many gallons you just put in your tank.

Make the calculation
You now have enough data to calculate your miles per gallon. Remember that this number is just a ratio. That’s why you don’t have to until you’re on empty to checking your gas mileage. To get the calculation, just take the number of miles on your trip odometer and divide that by the amount of gas you just put in your tank. That will give you your current miles per gallon.

I would recommend that you follow this process for a few weeks in a row to make sure that you are getting a consistent number. It may fluctuate a little bit, but overall your ratio should stay about the same. Now, go and check with some online source to see how your current gas mileage compares with when the car was manufactured.

If there is a considerable difference, you may want to consider using a proven fuel additive such as DurAlt to help clean out the engine a bit and make it run better. You also might want to consider taking the car in for a tune up to also help it run better. If you take better care of your car you’ll get much better results from it.

I hope this tip helps. Happy driving and be safe out there!

Hypnosis — Look In To My Eyes

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Hypnosis is the act of being put into a trance like state and it is used mainly to treat negative emotional and behavioural patterns like phobias, self doubt and smoking addictions. Its uses as healing therapy can be traced back to ancient Greece.

When a person is in a hypnotic state (being hypnotised) their subconscious is open to the power of suggestions which will be delivered to them by the therapist. Hypnosis has been proved to be a great relaxation tool but about 10 percent of the population cannot be hypnotised. Find more information at www.whattherapyresource.info

Hypnosis has been beneficial to many people that have embarked on it, but the reasons remain unknown. Some scientists believe that it helps to release natural mood altering chemicals like endorphins. The main reason that people believe is that hypnosis helps to control the unconscious mind which is responsible for involuntary reactions, such as cigarette cravings and food cravings.

Hypnotherapy is a useful tool for relieving stress and helping to relax, studies show that it also helps to reduce anxiety.

The main uses for hypnotherapy are for help with weight loss, nicotine cravings, overcoming phobias, increasing self confidence and helping to control drug addictions. It can also be used to compliment other conventional medicines in the treatment of pain management, hay fever, asthma and irritable bowel syndrome. Although it cannot cure diseases such as cancer, patients sometimes use hypnotherapy as an effective pain relief.

During a session with a hypnotist, the first thing they will do is test your ability to be hypnotised, there a few exercises they may use. One test involves staring at a small light in a dark room. Many people believe the light is moving and those who see it change direction the most are thought to be suitable for hypnosis. Once your ability has been ascertained the therapist will ask you what behaviour it is you want to change so they can work on a course of sessions.

To get you into a hypnotic state the therapist will use one or more various techniques. Once this is achieved the therapist will then begin making suggestions in an effort to change the negative behaviour.

A session usually lasts for about one hour and more sessions will likely be required to attain the changes that you desire.

Tiger Woods Can’t Match the Mental Toughness of a 14 year Old Girl

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

What is mental toughness? Is it being able to grind out a good score when things aren’t going so well on the course? Or is it the mental ability to stay strong and committed in spite of distractions and on-course circumstances?

Of course it is both of these things and more. Yet mental toughness isn’t something you simply acquire in the spur of the moment or when you “think you need it.” No, it’s more of an overall mindset. A perspective on the game that allows you to tap another level within your mental game.

Mental toughness is developed and built over time. Once you have a degree of mental toughness, access to it when it matters becomes easier and easier. Like any new skill it habituates over time. An increased inner resolve that generates consistent, confident swings.

Do you have the mental toughness of a 14-year-old-girl? I don’t think even Tiger does.

Seriously. Is your golfing mindset solid and committed in the many scenarios that unfold in your game? Do you have as strong a mind as young MacKinzie Kline, the 14-year-old golfing phenom? She is incredibly mentally tough.

She was born with only three valves in her heart and her kidney was on the wrong side of her body. Having gone through several operations in her life, she built a toughness. She went on to qualify for the Women’s Amateur at the age of 14. She’s already had three aces - and one of them was caught on film!

Yet as she continued to play she began to feel extremely short of breath. She was forced to take an oxygen tank with her as she played and use it between holes. Nothing would stop her from competing. Imagine lugging an oxygen tank around the course with you and remaining focused on each shot!

Concerned, the doctors investigated what might be causing her shortness of breath and discovered she had a hole in her heart which they had missed some time before that. So she underwent another operation.

She has a mental toughness that keeps her in her game and completely centered in each moment. Regardless of the circumstances. She has decided to play with a mindset that says, “I determine how I feel and how I’ll perform, not the other player or what might be happening around me.” MacKinzie Kline’s mindset is the epitome of what mental toughness is.

It’s almost routine to watch some frustrated whiner on the course toss his club 20 yards down the fairway after a bad shot. Or complain about all the bad breaks they get, why the bunker wasn’t raked properly, how the cup wasn’t cut right, and on and on. Player after player, when faced with some adversity, fold like a cheap suit and succumb to the inertia of their own inner weakness.

And then there’s this 14-year-old girl with only three valves in her heart with more character and heart than any of us could hope to have.

Mental toughness is a state of mind that keeps your attention on each task. Each shot. Each moment. MacKinzie Kline is committed to her mental game. She is committed to herself.

She accepts complete responsibility for her results and places no blame outside of herself for her circumstances. Amazing. Most everyone would agree she has a right to feel self pity. That doesn’t happen with her for even a moment. Her diminutive stature disguises a towering mental game giant.

She chooses how she’ll experience herself on the golf course. Knowing mental toughness is a decision. A commitment to an inner ideal that is bigger then the outcome of any one shot, or game. She chose to accept ownership of her internal state and how she’ll perform.

Tiger is unquestionably the dominant force in the game and is so mainly because of his mental toughness. Yet I would place young MacKinzie Kline along side him any day if forced to choose the mental game giants in golf.

It sure makes our own weakness on the course seem pathetic, doesn’t it?
